These people all came together to do good in the world, joined by their collective desire. And then each of them found things to live, found special interests to explore and obsess over. And so we get the Verdant Flammable Device, the Verbal Fridge Dialogue, the Volunteer Factual Dispatches, the Volatile Fungus Deportation, the Verse Fluctuation Declaration, the Volunteer Fish Domestication, etc, etc. Each of them imbued with so much love, so much passionate pursuit that the acronym becomes a banner.
YEAH!!! YEAH!!! they all did their best to make the world a better place by putting their unique interests to the test. to do that one small noble thing. and it's so fucking tragic, every time, to see how these things were corrupted by villainy to do things they weren't meant to do. the lions. the fungus. the fires. and it became meaningful not just to make the one thing that could stand against villainy and defeat it for good, but to stand together as a collective of people who wanted to do noble things while they could be noble. to make an organization of people who above all else were interested in making the world good and safe, just for a bit. to content themselves with family when family was available, but to also be brave enough to go alone into the skies to rescue family from the attacks of corrupted birds. etc. to be bold, to be noble, and to fiercely love all that is good in the world.
